History of the Driver Connection App
How We Got Here
Join us as we look back on the history of the Gerdau Connection Application.
Initially conceived as a specific solution for the Cartersville, GA mill back in 2018, the application has since become a standardized solution for all of Gerdau’s mills across the country.
2018
Bryan Hood from Cartersville Mill had a vision for how to improve safety for our truck Driver community and drive operational efficiency and so he enlisted Haneke Design, a Tampa based mobile & web app developer, to create a standalone application to support truck driver check in and Scale House data capture aimed at improving the driver check-in process.

2019
Haneke Design delivered a web and mobile solution that integrated with Gerdau’s existing SAP ERP software and allowed drivers to check in and receive directions right from their mobile devices. The ‘Truck Check In App’ is born!
2021
Brian Repass from Charlotte Mill reached out to the GLN Digital IT Team to ask for their support in selecting a vendor to create a truck check in app. The IT team engaged with Haneke and Bryan Hood to share the truck Check In App that was being used successfully in the Cartersville Mill. Brian likes what he sees and engages with Haneke to create a standalone app for Charlotte Mill

2022
As Haneke Design commenced work on developing the app for Charlotte the Gerdau IT, Gerdau Corporate Logistics & Haneke design teams hold a brainstorming session out of which they establish there would be significant benefits to making the app multi-tenant so we could efficiently and cost-effectively deploy the App to all GLN mills
2023
Charlotte App goes live within the new Multi-tenant environment.
The truck Check-In App is renamed ‘Driver Connection’ to align with the branding already created for the Carrier Connection portal, and the Roll-Out Project is launched to deploy the app to all GLN Mills
